CTO @ GFM Holdings (Unit 6)
GFM’s group was established in 1989 and evolved from a promotional marketer to a contact centre specialist, fulfilment network, games developer, digital agency and online travel aggregator – the Unit 6 side of the business works with small start-ups to large enterprises delivering digital platforms that drive customer engagement and increase revenues. Their clients include high profile gaming clients, large media and sports organisations and travel companies.
Unit 6 is comprised of multiple teams across UX, design, web & mobile development, qa, data analytics, devops, operations & infrastructure and digital innovation – the role of CTO would be to head up and provide technical leadership as well as define and lead the capabilities of the company across all these areas. This person would also sit on the board of GFM Holding and report on technical matters at each monthly board meeting.
The challenge was to find someone with a strong technical background in software engineering, a passion for user experience, excellent client facing communication and a solid business acumen to operate and present at board level.
3 candidates presented, all 3 progressed through 2 rounds of meetings. 1 candidate taken through a further 2 meetings with board members and another with the engineering team. Offer made to that candidate and accepted.
